asked:

Are there really so much bad incidents on the roads? One of the radio channel commentator commented that that two-thirds of all driving incidents in the USA were caused by rough driving and road rage. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens, accounting for 36% of all deaths in this age group. The risk of motor vehicle crashes is higher among 16- to 19-year-olds than among any other age group. In fact, per mile driven, teen drivers ages 16 to 19 are four times more likely than older drivers to crash. These things happened only for irresponsible driving and lack of awareness. For reducing these incidents good driving training is highly necessary. a trained and responsible driver hardly cause any accident. By driving safely you can save your life as well as others. So our online driving training is one of the medium to help the untrained driver to be a responsible and good driver.

Teen Driver Education is redoubtably one of the most important educations of a tin’s life.

asked:

Sex Education and Prevention Teenage Sexuality and the Pressures to Have Sex

We began this site with the intention of providing useful information and advising on all issues regarding teen pregnancy. We thought it might also be helpful to parents to understand some of the reasons teenage girls are choosing to have sex at younger and younger ages. The idea of sexuality has become embedded in almost every part of our society. The media is crawling with sexual innuendo and suggestive imagery; music and magazines put forth all kinds of evocative material while movies and TV shows often feature situations in which teenagers are experimenting with increasingly scandalous sexual behavior. It’s no wonder that young women often feel pressured to conform to societal standards of acceptable sexual conduct and do so by allowing sex to occur earlier than it otherwise might have. Right now nearly half of teens in the US ages from 15-19 have had sex at least one time. So, if fifty percent of America’s teenagers are participating in sexual intercourse, it’s not difficult to imagine the amount of pregnancies that are occurring as a result.

The studies done on teenage pregnancies show staggering results. If you are the parent of a teen or pre-adolescent, it is wise to educate yourself on the current trends regarding pregnancy and sexual activity in order to be informed about what pressures your child might be exposed to. A survey done by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, an organization dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted teen pregnancies, reveals that 46.8 percent of all high school students in America had have sexual intercourse at least once. The National Campaign has also reported that close to half of all pregnancies yearly in the United States are unplanned, and that the rate of unwanted or unplanned pregnancies is highest among teens.

When thinking about the causes and consequences of teen sexuality and pregnancy, a parent should consider some additional factors that play into the topic. There are some further outlying trends in terms of teenage sexual behavior that affect a teen’s decision to participate in sexual activity. How much does the idea of peer pressure actually influence teen sex? Where are teens experiencing their first sexual encounter? What are the tendencies among age groups- that is, are teens in relationships with older partners more likely to engage in sexual behavior than those who are closer in age to their partner? Another issue to bear in mind is that of drugs and alcohol, and how often substances play a part in the choice to have sex. Being prepared in these areas prior to a discussion can help a parent remain open-minded instead of intimidating or harsh.

Pressure to Have Sex

asked:

Before we take a look into the different methods that can be implemented to prevent teenage pregnancy let’s see what facts does a recent study reveals. The particular research looks into certain facts that teacher, counselors, parents and even the school administrators should be aware of:

* Even though the teen pregnancy rate has shown a decline in the United States over the past decade, the rate is still significantly higher than that of other industrialized countries.

* Each year, between the ages of 15 to 19 years, over half a million teenagers gives birth in the United States.

* The incidence of teenage pregnancy is seen more among poor young women of color in the United States.

* Children who are born to such teen mothers are more likely to have been abused.

* During their pregnancy period they are more likely to be physically abused than adult women.

* The United States Government spends over $7 billion each year towards expenses related to teenage pregnancy.

* Only 30 – 35% of teen mothers continue to complete their High School education.

Now, let’s take a look at how Public schools can adopt the four methodologies outlined in the Character Education curriculum to prevent teenage pregnancies. Public schools do play a crucial role in implementing Character Education as they serve more than 60 million children in this country.

asked:

Teenage women who have become mothers may find it difficult to get their life on track. They are likely dependent on their parents financially, if they are lucky enough to have that kind of support. But sometimes they are not so lucky. They struggle to get through high school, let alone think about pursuing higher education. Single mothers have a hard time as well.President Barack Obama would like to see these women doing better with their lives, so he has set aside some government funding to aid them in getting a college education. The money is a grant, so it does not have to be paid back. If the mother works, she does not have to quit her job. The financial aspect of obtaining the college degree is completely taken care of. Now it is up to the mother to get started with her education. It might be challenging to think about studying while taking care of a child, but it can be done. All you have to do is want it badly enough. Single mothers who are working multiple jobs to make ends meet can think about what a college degree can buy them ? time with their children. By getting a degree, she will become a desirable candidate for a better position, so that she will only need one job, which will free up more time. Some colleges offer online degree programs, and this makes the learning process a lot easier. Instead of having to find a babysitter or daycare program, and the funding for that, she will be able to earn her degree from home and be with her kids. The trick will be to make sure she is not distracted so that she can stay on her study schedule to successfully earn that degree. There are many types of scholarships available, so find out what is best for you. Some funding comes in as much as $10,000 and is renewable at the end of each term. If you would like to learn more, be sure to do your research to get started on your path to higher education and a new, higher-paying job to support the family.

asked:

It’s never easy for families to deal with struggling teens. Parents who have done everything they can to help their children put their life back on track are often at a loss on how to help make a real change on their life. The truth is that at this point in their life and with the kind of environment that they are living in, teens struggle with so many other influences that shape who they are and what decisions they make. Struggling teens make the job of parents a lot harder than it already is.

At times it’s best to recognize when your teen needs professional help. Sometimes, stepping back is the best way to step forward and help your teen survive this turbulent phase a better person. Therapeutic educational programs could be a viable solution to this serious problem. Here are a few reasons why it’s something worth looking into:

1. Provides a strong support system – Therapeutic programs put great emphasis on initiating positive change in order to be capable of making positive choices. It’s easy to make demands to your teens that they do not know how to fulfill. Simply asking your teen to “grow up” or make better decisions without telling them exactly how they can do this will only result in mutual frustration. In therapeutic programs for children, they are given a support system that helps them discover the tools they need to help themselves.

asked:

Obesity is defined as an excessive accumulation of body fat, which is identified through the concept of Body Mass Index (BMI). Specifically, overweight refers to an excess body weight with a BMI of 25 to 29.9. However, individuals with a BMI of 30 or more are considered obese. Although our society is preoccupied with the “art” of thinness, obesity is finally recognized as an increasing health problem.

Obesity in teens costs the country billions of dollars a year in disease management and emergency room visits for heart problems and diabetes. However, the cost to teens isnt as easily quantified; the problems that arise for obese teenagers range from physical to mental and can only be cured gradually over time. Below is a simple guide outlining three main risks associated with teen obesity and three ways to combat teenage obesity.

Causes of Obesity in Teens:

1. Poor eating habits

More and more teenagers provide for themselves when it comes to preparing and eating meals. Most of the meals a teenager eats are provided at school. Sometimes these choices are less than healthy options, like pizza and French fries. Also available in many schools are numerous vending machines selling sodas, chips, and candy bars. Dinner may be the first and only chance a teenager has to eat a healthy meal.

asked:

Introduction

Planned Parenthood education supersedes abstinence approaches.

Planned Parenthood education involves giving comprehensive information to the youth in order to encourage responsible and capable parenting. This involves teaching young people responsible sexual behavior without necessarily making sex appear abnormal. The latter approach is taken up by abstinence advocates and most of them may not necessarily give neutral information. Such a method is doomed to fail because the US teenage population is quite exposed to sex images and information surrounding the topic. It would therefore be more reasonable to lay out all the options on the table and guide teenagers in the right direction. (Luker, 1996)

Arguments for abstinence over Planned Parenthood education

‘The Georgia Office of Adolescent Health and Youth Development’s primary program offered to teens today is abstinence-only. The Children’s Youth Coordinating Council (CYCC) currently funds over 110 Georgia programs with a budget totaling approximately $7.4 million; this budget is split among five program areas, one of which is designated to abstinence-only education with much of it going to support after-school programs.’ (Parenthood of Georgia, 2008)

In the US, there is an underlying belief that abstinence approaches are effective because of a number of reasons. First of all, adherents to this belief claim that there are certain social, physical and psychological effects that will come as result of expressing one’s sexuality. Supporters of this principle claim that young people are not supposed to treat sex as part of their normal lives because their too young. They believe that any form of sex outside marriage is simply wrong and out of context.

People who hold this perspective are guided by a certain set of moral values. The major principle behind these values is that marriage is the only place for sex. They also hold the view that engaging in any sexual activities before marriage will only make things worse for teenagers. There are some negative effects that will come out of premarital sex and must be avoided at all costs.

Adherents to this believe normally hold the view that condoms have very high failure rates and other forms of contraceptives are not appropriate for young people as they do not offer one hundred percent guarantee.

It should be noted that many families in the United States are founded upon religious beliefs even though many of them may not like to admit it. Religion requires young people to wait until; marriage. Consequently, it society is to remain intact then teenagers need to refrain form having sex completely.

asked:

These days teen girl bullies and harassment are widespread in schools. Although boys bully in a more direct way by using their fists, teen girls tend to adapt a more subtle method to achieve a similar result by humiliating their victims in any way possible.

The line between harassment and stalking is very fine. Many teen bullies use both of these measures to completely take control over other girls, making them feel helpless and have little self worth. The effects of teen girl bullies cause serious eating disorders as well as encouraging absenteeism from school, psychological problems and the victim will not be able to concentrate on anything when the bullying and teasing starts

Regrettably, teen girl bullying and harassment in schools are not thought to be as serious as boy bullying. The bullying acts of girls are simply seen as a jealous streak or a difference of opinion usually about boyfriends. However, despite what people think, teen girl bullying is not only a grim problem but it can be deadly too.

asked:

In the world teenage pregnancies is now at an all new high and is continually rising. With the rise of drug abuse, teen sex, and alcohol unfortunately this number will continue to rise. What a lot of these teens may not realize is that although there are pros to being pregnant there are also cons and this is especially true in teenage pregnancy.

Pros:

Probably one of the biggest cons that a lot of teenagers seem to understand is that they will have the opportunity to grow up with their child. You will be able to do things with your child that some parents will not have the luxury too because of their age.

Cons:

The number one and most important con of teenage pregnancy that needs to be considered is the loss of education. A lot of girls who become pregnant in their teens drop out of school because they do not like all the stares and whispers that they receive. If you do not drop out your morning sickness will cause you to miss a lot of class and as a result you will lose a lot of valuable information that you need to complete the class. Your overall pregnancy will also have a very big impact on you. You are going to experience a lot of pain, you’re going to gain a lot of weight, and feel stress among a whole mix of other big impacts. You have to remember you are not a grown lady yet so your body is not yet equipped to handle the extra weight that a baby will add. You will not be able to go out and socialize with your friends because you will have no one to babysit. You will miss out on dates, proms, and all the other fun social events that you would be able to attend if you were not pregnant. This will begin to make you feel isolated and alone. Think about what your family is going to think. This is the number one con of teenage pregnancy because a lot of parents will become extremely upset. They know that they will probably have to be pretty much responsible to raise the baby and that is not a task that a lot of parents are willing to take. Another huge con against teenage pregnancy is the financial responsibility that it will cost you. Babies come with a huge price tag. Think about the price of diapers, formula, and daycare. This does not include the cost of clothes and other essentials. On average it takes approximately 5,000-7,000 dollars a year to raise a child. Are you ready for that kind of price tag?

asked:

The ParentJuice Take: There are distinct and opposed views on teen sex education in schools. Despite abstinence-only prevailing as the government curriculum, there is widespread opposition to it. Consequently, some schools teach abstinence-only, some schools provide comprehensive sex-education. And some schools teach something in between.

For decades, the religious right has made an active attempt to influence laws in the direction of “family values”. The Adolescent Family Life Act, which Congress passed in 1981, has long influenced the kind of sex education that youth receive. Much money is spent in an effort to keep children in the United States from obtaining information about touchy subjects like homosexuality, masturbation, contraception, and abortion. Currently, the Bush administration is requesting $242 million in funds that would be applied to abstinence-only education in 2008.

Planned Parenthood, whose role in teen sex education has always been controversial, argues that a lack of access to contraception and sexual health services damages the future of youth. However, the religious right believes sexual materials of any kind should be kept out of the classrooms and health organizations.
